I just read a great blog by Craig Groeschel, about how common it is for pastors to defend their style or the style of their church. It really raised a red flag in my own life. It caused me to wonder why I and so many of us tend to debate why our churches do what they do. Why do we defend who we are instead of celebrating who we are? I think it's because we think we need to be the best. We think we have to have all the answers. We aren't the best and we don't have all the answers. We need to realize, we are who God is shaping us to be and we need to take our unique position in his redemption plan. We need to constantly hear form him. Our church may reach dozens and the church down the road may reach hundreds, but lets just be what He wants us to be.
It's time for us to celebrate who we are and the uniqueness of other churches. CATF is doing what God has called us to do. That's a great place to be and I am excited about where we are headed. Let's maximize our uniqueness in 2009. Let's be the church God is shaping us to be.
