- If we battle selfishness we will face the enemy.
- If we strive to point our kids to God's way for their lives we feel the wrath of the enemy.
- If we decide to be faithful to our spouse physically, emotionally and in our own mind we will deal with the enemy's onslaught.
The battles can be fierce and many followers of Christ have succumbed to the battle, not losing a little ground, but just deciding to go with the flow. We will all struggle through the battles and gain and lose ground at times, but many begin to tolerate a little unfaithfulness of the eyes, a little pride, a little jealousy or inappropriate behavior from their kids (after all kids we be kids). The truth is, when you give in a little there is a little less pressure because you are now a conquered foe and no longer a warrior. You are no longer battling, but are siding with the enemy. This seems good for a time, but then come the consequences. You see, a life yielded to sin is one that will be ravage by consequences and plundered by the enemy. You can't sleep with the enemy and come out unscathed. Galations 6:7
Do I sound a little extreme? Please don't play that card. The battle is real, trust someone who has walked with Christ for over 24 years through many battles. Trust someone who has given in and had to break lose from the enemy.
Are you ready to do battle? Are you reading the Bible daily and praying daily? Do you have a support network of Christ followers who you can call out to for support? Are you bound and determined to depend on God for the strength you need? You can't do this alone. You must be prepared for the long haul. Trust me, it will be worth it.
