21 Days of Fasting

Join Pastor Brandon, CATF leaders and the LifeChurch.tv Network as we fast for 21 days. Let's seek God, humble ourselves before and ask his blessing on 2011. Put him First.

Why should I fast?

  • To hear God more clearly. God's voice will get stronger as I deny my own desires and say yes to him.
  • To more fully align my heart with God's plan for my life.
  • It humbles me as I realize how difficult it is for me to fast. I expose my weakness and my need of an all powerful God.
  • To grow spiritually, to seek God's healing for sinful habits.
What should I fast?
  • Whatever you sense God leading you to give up for the 21 days.
  • You could fast coffee, desserts, all meat, eat only vegetables, soft drinks, all alcohol, all TV, all social media, the internet (except for work purposes), you could fast all food and drink only juice and water. It's up to you to figure out what God is leading you to do.
What else should we do besides fast?
  • Pray for God to more fully work in your life, pray for healing physically, pray for release from sinful habits, pray for your family, for friends, for the salvation of people you know, for your church, for your pastor, for the needs of our community.
  • Read the Bible. http://www.youversion.com/reading-plans/21-day-fast
When do we fast?
  • Starting January 3rd for 21 days.
Who is fasting?
  • many from CATF
  • the LifeChurch.tv Network

Christmas Compassion

Christmas Compassion is beginning. We just loaded up one of our volunteers with diapers, wipes, newborn clothing to give to a young couple in the community. Praying God uses this gift to show his love to this family. Thanks CATF for giving. God will multiply this over and over.

On Friday afternoon we head to Greycliff Manor to bless 40 residents and then to the Rex Motel to give to another 10 people.

In addition we will sponsor a Compassion Child overseas.

What you keep is all you have, what you give God multiplies. Thanks for being part of this great micro-mission outreach to our community and our world. You are the best church in the world.

Hey CATF,

I am proud of the people that are part of CATF. I am proud that you are open to growing in your relationship with God. I know the last two weeks have been challenging talks (I have felt that personally). Even though they have been challenging, I keep hearing great feedback from so many about what God is doing in lives.
What is God asking you to do? Don't make excuses why you can't tithe and give, simply ask God what he wants you to do. Every single one of us has very unique dynamics in our lives that God is fully aware of and he wants to work through you regardless of the challenges you feel prohibit you from following him.

Here's the link to watch last Sunday's talk if you missed it or if you need to hear it again. Multiply week 2

Secret Sin

On Sunday Craig challenged us to follow two areas of confession to begin the pursuit of freedom from hidden sin. Confess to GOD for FORGIVENESS (1 John 1:9). Confess to PEOPLE for HEALING (James 5:16)

Have you allowed God to search you? Have you confessed to Him the secret sin that is weighing you down? Are you willing to find healing by confessing your area of struggle to a trusted friend in order to find accountability and freedom from a besetting sin? We want to help you, please reach out.

To be honest it's so easy for us to get comfortable in our dysfunction. Do the hard work and begin to remove the mask. Be real and expose the dark areas of your life to the light of God. Talk It Over Week 2 - I Believe In You

Highest Ever

This past Sunday we recorded out highest ever Sunday morning experience attendance with 133 people. Wow! In our 3 1/2 years as a church we have grown from less than 20 people to a growing vibrant church. In our 2 years as LifeChurch.tv Network Church we have doubled in size. Great days are ahead. I love all that God is doing through our church, but I also pray that churches in our community are also growing. We can't do it alone.

If you remember me mentioning in last weeks video news about a first time guest, well he accepted Christ this week. Amazing life change! That's what it's all about!

If you missed this past Sunday please take a moment to go to ChurchAtTheFalls.com and watch it. I trust each of us were inspired to take it to the next level and motivated to build into the lives of children that are in our sphere of influence. Don't forget to Talk It Over with friends and family. What is one change you will make in order to point someone to greatness?

Prayer Requested

It’s Friday again already and while for most people that means a celebration of the end of the work week, for me it means my week moves into very high gear.

I really do love Sunday's, from the time I come into the office on Tuesday morning, it’s Sunday that’s in my sights.

Sunday morning generally takes a ton of energy out of me, but it's worth it.

One of the greatest things you can do for me and for Craig is to pray and invite people to come with you.

  • Please pray that God will give me the sheer physical energy I’ll need to put the best I’ve got into what he wants to do on Sunday morning. Pray for my health, having Crohn's has its impact on me at times.
  • Pray that I will communicate what God wants me to say on Sunday.
  • Pray that God will help me not to allow the 101 other things I deal with before our morning experience starts to sap my emotional energy or shift my focus.
  • Pray that I’ll approach the morning with passion and compassion.
  • Pray that God will remind that it's all about Him and not about me.
  • Pray that I love the people.
  • Invite friends and bring your family with you this weekend.
  • Would you also pray for Roman and Kim Rozborowskyj. Roman's brother passed away suddenly due to a heart attack.

I need your help and I need God’s help too.

Thanks,

Brandon

Eye Lock

I had an eye lock moment. Today after our morning experience I locked eyes with a person as they shook my hand. As I looked into this person's eyes I saw life, I saw hope, I saw relief, I saw a second chance, I saw freedom, I saw what it looks like to know that God loves a person just as they are. This is one of the incredible moments of leading a church that says "come as you are". Thank you Jesus for changing lives.

Why do we set up in a movie theatre every Sunday? Because of those "eye lock" "ah ha" moments.

"My ambition has always been to preach the Good News where the name of Christ has never been heard, rather than where a church has already been started by someone else. I have been following the plan spoken of in the Scriptures, where it says, 'Those who have never been told about him will see, and those who have never heard of him will understand'." Romans 15:20-21

Toxic Material Ahead

Have you ever been around someone and your thought was, "they are toxic". Have you ever watched or listened to something and thought, "that's just toxic". Find out this Sunday what we do with the toxins we all face and how we "protect" ourselves without wearing a haz-mat suit.

Reality Check

The average marriage lasts 7 years. Something is wrong.

Simple advice... "And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ." Ephesians 5:21

Husband submit to your wife's needs. Wife submit to your husband's needs. Sad truth if we don't meet our spouse's needs then we leave the door WIDE open for someone else to step in and meet the needs.

God has established a family order... follow it. It works, God designed it that way.

It Is Possible To Change Your World

On Monday morning I found myself sitting in a parking lot programing a new cell phone, what I didn't know was that I was about to come to face to face with a person that understood that she could make a difference right where she was at. I became fascinated with a construction worker that was directing traffic. The one that holds the stop/ slow sign and controls the flow of traffic around a road construction site. Often these workers seem almost lifeless as they direct people around the barriers. No doubt this job could be rather boring at times. Not this lady, she excelled at being the best. She didn't let boredom or indifference take hold. She smiled at every person, nodded her head and motioned in such a graceful way to each motorist as they drove around the construction zone. She had people waving back at her, smiling and it even seemed they were happy to wait in the traffic. People coming in the opposite direction seemed to know her, likely because she had directed them around the barriers earlier that day. The passing motorists shouted greetings and waved as they passed by. She changed her world. I have never observed someone in this type of work that had such a great attitude or who wanted to make a difference. She clearly understood that she could "bloom where she was planted". That she could make a choice to make a difference.

I couldn't help but wonder if I approached life with her kind of attitude how much impact I could have for Christ. I know people would see something in me.

"God, help us to be all that you have planned for us to be. Help us to show your love right where we are and to see today as an opportunity to make a difference. To make the most of difficult jobs, difficult family situations, and unpleasant circumstances. Especially help those of us who find ourselves in great situations, yet lack the courage and faith to show who you are in our everyday lives. Fill us with your life changing power. May we be what you have called us to be right now, rather than wishing for perfect circumstances. I pray that the world is different as a result of our influence today. In Jesus Name Amen"

Thanks to the construction worker who showed me what it means to make a difference no matter what.

Unstoppable Courage - One Prayer Week 1

From our friends at Lifechurch.tv

This past weekends message focused on the action of Benaiah in 2 Samuel 23:20, “He…went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion.” His attack on the fierce feline was not a defensive move, not a necessary protective act. He took the offensive by going into the crater where the vicious animal was trapped and confronting it. His courage is unmistakable. Craig pointed out that often real faith requires actually going after our lions, those God breathed dreams that keep us up at night or cause our hearts to flutter when they pass through our thoughts. Perhaps it’s a new stirring, or have you carried it around in obscurity for years? What lion(s) do you feel you need to be chasing?

Does that beast waiting to be tackled in your life involve career…family…ministry…personal development…relationships…education?

We thought it would be both fun and challenging for us as an online community to encourage each other on our journeys toward unstoppable courage. For some, this may prove to be the first time you’ve ever revealed that unshakeable burden. Or you might have already tried to share your hunting tales with countless others. Either way, we want to be a part of your story. Are you still unsure which lion you should be pursuing, is your vision less than 20/20? That’s ok, feel free to disclose that as well.

May the courageous inspirations and prayers written out here represent future destinies fulfilled and lives changed! Go to our CATF Facebook page and share your thoughts and prayers.

[If you would like to dive deeper into the life and story of Benaiah, you can order Mark Batterson’s book, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day.]

Powerful Day

I would be hard pressed to remember a morning experience that had higher impact. Craig's message inspired and encouraged many. When I called people to stand if they were facing a lion and half of the people stood to their feet asking for God to give them the faith to step out and face the lion, I was in awe. As I prayed there were times that I sensed God touching lives at that very moment. One of the people that came to Christ today had this to say, "it took courage for me to raise my hand" - there is a cost to follow Christ. God is so awesome. Major move of the Spirit today. I experienced a great deal of anticipation all through Saturday evening and early Sunday as I woke up several times and prayed. Thanks to each of you for sacrifices made to serve at CATF. It is worth it! God is doing something very special in our midst. I pray we all submit to his leading.

My family and I will be on vacation the next two Sunday's. The two best gifts you can give me is to be part of the morning experiences the next two weeks and your prayers for us as we travel, relax and recharge.

On June 27th my daughter Shelby will share her story of redemption at our morning experience. Bring people - especially young people - I believe God will use her story to impact others.

Face that lion in His strength!

Forgotten Virtues

This past Sunday we experienced Craig's teach on the forgotten virtue of "loyalty". Loyalty seems to be at an all time low within our society. It seems that most people make decisions based on what is best for themselves. I hope each of us is taking a personal inventory in the area of loyalty and taking steps to be loyal in our relationships. Where Is The Church?

Where is the church when my child is in crisis? As a parent, yes I am a parent before I am a pastor, I struggle with the same questions you do. Where is the church? What should the church be doing for my family? Why won't someone reach out to my family?

Here's the conclusion I have come to, as a parent, after pondering, praying and asking these questions. The Bible clearly teaches and indicates that as a parent I am called to pastor my child. I am called to pastor and lead my home. Noah is a great example of pastoring his family in a corrupt godless culture.
It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. Hebrews 11:7
We think of Noah as trying to save the world but his first priority was his family. Amidst all his flaws and shortcomings he led his family. That's what we need to do as parents. We need to live Jesus before our family. We need to love them closer to Jesus, not try to control them closer to Jesus. We need to pray them closer to Jesus. We need to teach them in our home about Jesus. Can I challenge you to take the steps that you need to for your family? I have a new question for all of us. Parents, what are we doing to save our family?

What then is the role of the church for my family and for your family? God gave pastors and teachers to the church to do the following.
Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. Ephesians 4:12
Our church is here to equip you to do God's work in your home first and then we trust to do His work as part of our church and in the community. We want strong families. We want the best for your family. I believe we are giving the best, are you receiving it and applying it? Are you an active part of our church? What steps do you need to take?

My heart breaks when I see parents of young children investing more time in sports and hobbies than teaching their family God's Word. Dad and mom, teach Jesus to your little ones. Don't miss the opportunity.

My heart breaks when I see parents of teens in crisis knowing the formative years are behind and now your greatest influence will be your actions.
Live like Jesus like you never have before! When you do this, you will fail but get back up and live like Jesus!

I pray for your families.

What Are You Seeing?

So often we view life as being in the valley (the crap of life) and then on the mountain top (let the good times roll). A better picture is two railway tracks running side by side. One track has its challenges and the other has good things. Make no mistake the two never meet, but seeing the two change how we view life. At bare minimum we see the grace of God amidst our trials. I think keeping the second view point allows us to see God at work in the midst of our challenges.

2 Corinthians 4:18 "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

Forgiveness

How are you doing practicing what we heard this past Sunday about forgiveness? Remember what Miles challenged us to do, pray about the issue in your life where you need to receive or give forgiveness. Remember Jesus' love is greater than any offense.

Shouldn't you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you? Matthew 18:33 NLT

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15

Will you pray?

How To Find The Good Life by Brandon Duff

Christianity is not about what you get for yourself, but what you give of yourself. For God so love the world He gave. How about you? Have you got caught up in the consumer Christianity mindset? It's easier than you think to go down that road, looking for what's in it for you.
At the very heart of God is giving. When we follow His heart and give of ourselves we will find that we receive so much in return.

This week will you give
  • Time to a neighbour
  • Money to the needy
  • Talents to serve in the church
  • Effort to help a co-worker
  • ?
Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity.”
Luke 6:38 The Message

Letters from a Pastor - Part 3

Your Prayers Matter by Craig Groeschel

Dear Church,

My family is overwhelmed with gratitude for your prayers. Thank you for lifting us before God faithfully.

Several of you ask us often how you can specifically pray for us. I always look forward to giving you honest and immediate needs because I know your prayers make a difference.

If you ever don’t know what to pray, we always are asking God for wisdom to lead well, spiritual direction and power, anointing to teach God’s word, and protection for our family from spiritual and other attacks. We truly feel your prayers. Without your prayer support, we couldn’t do what we do.

Thank you for caring enough to pray.

Letters from a Pastor - Part 2

Your Friendship Matters by Craig Groeschel

Dear Church,

Thank you so much for treating me like a normal person. I feel that you honor the “office” of the pastor but love and accept me as a person.

I don’t take this for granted. Many of my pastor friends tell me that they feel lonely in ministry. Many have explained that other pastors in town are difficult to get to know and trust. Others have expressed deep hurts from friendships-gone-bad with people in their churches.

My family feels loved and accepted and not judged by the church. Some people may act differently around us because they are “with the pastor.” Our family enjoys when you are yourself and let us be ourselves. I’m especially grateful when you don’t put unrealistic expectations on my children and love them as regular kids.

We’ll always try to be a good and faithful example of Christ, but we’re grateful when you love us even though we occasionally fail.
