Genesis 3:1 NLT
The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”
This is how it typically goes with us. Did God really say...
- not to tell a white lie
- not to look lustfully on a women
- that looking lustfully is the same as committing adultery
- not to cheat your employer
- talking about someone behind their back is wrong (it's ok if we are concerned about them - NO it's not)
- sex before marriage is wrong (He designed sex...he knows what is best)
- rebellion is a big deal
- disunity in the church is also a big deal
- love my neighbour the same way I love myself
- the world will know we are Christians by our love for each other
- Did God really say_____________________
Think about how quickly we will rationalize our behaviour...let's commit to telling ourselves the truth.
